In the rainy season a nursery bag differs from an ordinary one in one way: anything that gets even slightly wet needs a replacement close at hand. Below is a list that actually works on these days.
What belongs in the bag
- A spare pair of socks, two pairs if possible
- Spare trousers and underwear
- A bag for wet clothes
- A warm hat, to wear under the hood
- A small towel for drying hands and feet
Shoes: why a separate pair is worth it
For puddles, rubber boots are the most practical choice, but they are cold and heavy indoors. A good solution is a pair of boots for the walk outside and ordinary shoes to change into at nursery. For thick socks, go one size up on the boots compared with what you take in everyday shoes.

A warm layer under the jacket

A word on sizing
Wet clothes get changed often, so an accurate size matters here more than on an ordinary day. If you have not measured your child recently, check the size chart first and buy after that.
Pack the bag the evening before
The easiest habit is to pack the bag the evening before and leave it by the door. In the morning, once it is already raining and everyone is in a hurry, a quick glance at the bag is enough to be sure nothing got left behind at home.
