Children's clothing from European brands

C&A, ZARA, NEXT, H&M, LIEWOOD, Sergent Major and Tape à l'oeil. How they differ in cut, quality and price, and which to choose when.

European brands differ in more than their logo. The cut, the fabric and the style are all different, and that is what decides which one suits you. Below are the brands we stock.

C&A

A German and Belgian brand built around everyday clothing. The cut is generous, the cotton content is high and the price is among the most affordable. Probably the best choice for nursery and the yard. C&A in the shop.

ZARA

A Spanish brand that pays more attention to style. The cut is narrow and the models are more fashionable. Good for visiting, for photographs and for occasions. ZARA in the shop.

NEXT

A British brand. Good cotton, a roomy cut and simple, hard wearing models. British sizes are given by age, and we convert them to European heights. NEXT in the shop.

H&M

A Swedish brand. Low prices, a wide choice and a slightly narrow cut. Good for basic t shirts and underwear. H&M in the shop.

LIEWOOD

A Danish brand known for accessories and silicone items. Soft colours and minimal design. A good choice as a gift. LIEWOOD in the shop.

Sergent Major and Tape à l'oeil

Both are French. Sergent Major is more classic and strong on occasion wear, while Tape à l'oeil is more everyday and colourful. Sergent Major and Tape à l'oeil.

Which to choose

  • For nursery and the yard: C&A, NEXT, H&M
  • For occasions: ZARA, Sergent Major
  • As a gift: LIEWOOD, Tape à l'oeil

One note on sizes: all of these brands use the European system, where the size follows height. There is more in our article on European sizes.

The full list is on the brands page, and everything else is in the shop.

Frequently asked questions

Which brand is cut most generously?
In our experience C&A and NEXT are roomier, while ZARA and H&M are narrower. If your child is tall or sturdy, the first two sit better.
Is branded clothing worth the extra money?
Often yes, because the stitching and the fabric survive more washes and the item can be handed down. One garment that lasts two seasons works out cheaper than two that do not.
Are the items new or second hand?
Every item is brand new, with its tags. We do not sell second hand clothing.
